THE CHALLENGE
The Problem
Your puppy pees and poos everywhere—carpet, tiles, beds, right after being outside. You're cleaning constantly. House training isn't working. Your puppy doesn't signal. You're frustrated and exhausted. Visitors notice the smell.
OUR APPROACH
The Solution
Toilet training success requires: consistent schedule, confinement when unsupervised, immediate rewards for correct location and consequences for accidents. Most failures are human timing errors, not stubborn puppies. We'll teach you the system that works.
RESULTS
What You'll Achieve
THE PROCESS
How It Works
Schedule: Regular toilet breaks based on age (8 weeks = hourly)
Confinement: Crate or pen when unsupervised prevents accidents
Reward timing: Treat DURING urination/defecation (not after)
Accident protocol: Interrupt if caught, clean properly to remove scent
Signal training: Teach bell ringing or door scratching (optional)
Regression prevention: Adjust schedule during adolescence
FAQ
Common Questions
How long does puppy toilet training take?
With consistent training: 2-4 weeks for daytime control. Night-time control can take 4-6 months (bladder development). By 6 months old, most puppies can hold 6-8 hours. Accidents during adolescence (6-12 months) are normal regression—stay consistent.
Why does my puppy toilet inside right after being outside?
Because outside is too exciting to focus on toileting. They explore, play, then come inside and relax enough to pee. Solution: Boring toilet breaks. Stand still, limit exploration, wait 5-10 minutes. Only play/explore AFTER toileting. Make outside boring until they go.
Should I use puppy pads or train straight to outside?
Straight to outside is faster and clearer. Puppy pads teach 'it's okay to toilet inside' then you have to retrain later. Only use pads if you physically can't take puppy outside frequently (high-rise apartment). Otherwise, skip pads and go directly to outdoor training.
Can I punish my puppy for toilet accidents?
Only if caught in the act—interrupt with 'No', take outside immediately, reward for finishing there. NEVER punish after the fact (even 30 seconds later)—puppies don't connect punishment to old accidents. Clean thoroughly with enzyme cleaner to remove scent markers.
