Facilities
Omaha is a long stretch of clean white sand up in Rodney, and it is one of the more generous beaches for dogs. In summer you have the early morning and evening, and in winter the whole beach opens up to off-leash any time of day.
It is a popular holiday spot, so summer mornings can get busy. Out of season you will often have huge open space to yourself, which is perfect for a proper run.
Make the most of it
All that open winter space is ideal for stretching a recall out over real distance. Birds nest in the dunes though, so a reliable 'leave it' and a recall you can trust are what keep your dog and the wildlife safe.
Local tips
- In winter the whole beach is off-leash all day, the best time for training space.
- Stay off the dunes where birds nest, especially in spring and summer.
- No fresh water on the beach, so bring your own.
