Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal information
Last updated: January 2025
Welcome to the privacy policy of 100% K9 LTD. At 100%K9 Dog Training, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of any personal information you provide to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your data when you interact with our services or visit our website.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information from you:
Personal Information: This includes your name, email address, phone number and mailing address when you contact us, book a service or subscribe to our newsletter.
Pet Information: Details about your dog(s), such as their name, breed, age and behavioural history, to better tailor our services to your needs.
Payment Information: If you make a payment through our website, we may collect payment details (e.g., credit card information). Note that all payments are processed securely through third-party payment processors.
Website Usage Data: When you visit our website, we may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type and pages visited. This helps us improve our website and services.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and manage our dog training services
- To communicate with you about appointments, updates and promotions
- To personalise your experience and ensure our services meet your specific needs
- To process payments and send invoices or receipts
- To respond to inquiries, feedback or support requests
- To analyse website traffic and improve our website's functionality and content
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our business interests
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information to third parties. However, we may share your data in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our business (e.g., IT support, marketing platforms or payment processors). These providers are obligated to keep your information secure and confidential.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect our rights, property or safety, or the rights of others.
3.5 Online Courses Platform
When you purchase or use our online courses, we collect and process additional information. This section sets out specifically what we do, in line with the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs) under the Privacy Act 2020.
Lesson Progress and Watch Tracking
We collect data about which lessons you have viewed and completed, your checklist ticks, and how long you have spent watching videos. This is used to (a) show you your personal progress dashboard, (b) unlock subsequent lessons where gating is enabled, and (c) trigger inactivity reminder emails. You can opt out of reminder emails at any time.
Personal Notes — Important
Each lesson includes a private notes field for you to record your own observations and questions. Although these notes are private to your account, our admin staff may access them for the following purposes: helping you when you contact us for support; understanding which lessons are confusing so we can improve them; and identifying students who may benefit from a personal nudge or in-person session. We do not share your notes with other students or third parties. If you would prefer your notes never to be reviewed, simply don't write anything you wouldn't want us to see.
Video Streaming via Mux (Cross-Border Disclosure — IPP 12)
Course videos are hosted and streamed by Mux, Inc., a video infrastructure provider based in the United States. When you watch a course video, Mux receives technical data including your IP address, device type, browser, viewing time, and playback events. Mux uses this data to deliver the video and provide us with aggregate viewing analytics.
This means some of your personal information is transferred outside New Zealand to the United States. Mux is contractually committed to data-protection standards comparable to the Privacy Act 2020 via its standard Data Processing Addendum. By purchasing a course you consent to this cross-border processing.
Payment Processing (Cross-Border Disclosure)
Course payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., based in the United States and Ireland. We do not store full credit card details on our servers — Stripe handles this. Stripe receives the data necessary to process the transaction (your name, email, billing address, card details, and purchase amount).
Gift Course Purchases (Third-Party Email Collection — IPP 2 Exception)
If someone purchases a course as a gift for you, the buyer provides us with your email address (and optionally your first name) so we can deliver the redemption link. In this case we are collecting your information from a third party rather than directly from you, which is permitted under IPP 2 where it is impractical to collect from the individual concerned.
If you receive a gift redemption email and would prefer we delete the associated record without claiming the gift, contact us at training@100percentk9.co.nz and we will do so promptly.
Course-Related Email Communications
When you purchase or are gifted a course, we send transactional emails (welcome message, tax invoice, completion certificate notifications, and occasional progress nudges). These are necessary for the operation of the course and cannot be unsubscribed from without losing access to the course. Marketing emails are separate and can be unsubscribed from at any time.
4. Storing Your Information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, misuse or loss. Your data is stored securely on servers located in New Zealand or other trusted jurisdictions. We retain your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
5. Your Rights
Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Access: You can request access to the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: You can ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
